Tuesday 22nd November 2011 All good things must come to an end...Whale sighhtings over the last couple of days have been rare with only a cuople of whales sighted in total..Like all wildlife migrations the timings can't be predictedand based on our recent sightings the whale watching cruises will probably end this weekend.. Keep an eye out though as you never know!! We wish the whales well on there perilous journey south and thank them for the many sightings that have touched so many.. Thursday 3rd November 2011 A quiet day on the water with a single humpback whale passing the mouth of Jervis Bay just north of Bowen Island, Fluke up and diving several times and a few blows and slashes out wide. Monday 29 August 2011 Cracking cruise today... 10 very active Humpback whales sighted, lots of tail slapping, breaching and pectoral fins. Passengers also saw approx 400 common dolphins out near Point Perpendicular and on the way back accross the bay sighted another 150 bottelnose dolphins.. doesn't get much better.. Friday 10 June 2011 WHALE REPORT UPDATE! - 10/06/2011 Killer whales just outside Jervis bay! Our crew and guests onboard Extreme were treated to a rare sight today as a pod killer whales were seen herding approx 6 Humpback whales just outside Jervis Bay headlands, If you can imagine these are the largest of the dolphins and one of the world’s most powerful predators (approx 5-6 tonnes) hunting the majestic Humpbacks (approx 80 tonnes)! “ We saw a pod of 6 orcas heading south, 1 bigger male with 5 females one of which would have been a juvenile, as a group of 6 Humpbacks were travelling north up the coast, the orcas moved directly into the path of the humpbacks, lots of fins and tail splashing and the humpbacks seemed to be protecting a young or sick one in the middle of the pod, after a short while the group of orcas headed south again and seemed to regroup before coming at the humpbacks again. Wednesday 13 October 2010 10 HUMPBACK WHALES and approx 400 common dolphins were sighted on our morning TEKIN III cruise, all whales were spotted inside the bay. The dolphins were located just at the entrance to the bay. A very large Mother and calf in the group delighted all on board with a tandem breach very close to the boat, they were a very curious pair taking a close look at our passengers. 4 HUMPBACK WHALES and approx 70-80 common dolphins whales were inside the bay and very active, lots of breaching and tail slapping, they are obviously enjoying their visit to Jervis Bay. Thursday 7 October 2010 Spirit of Jervis Bay - 5 Humpbacks on a cold over cast day, but the best cruise of the week. The clients of Tekin III watched a Humpback calf breaching for 45 minutes whilst the mother carefully stood by watching. Sightings were near Bowen Island and also well inside Jervis Bay. Eco Extreme - 5 Humpbacks and the very best ever display of these powerful but peaceful creatures.
